EN-HERITAGE – Management and Energy Efficiency of Historic Buildings
EN-HERITAGE is an innovative platform for diagnostic management and energy efficiency, aimed at the conservation and use of historic buildings, based on digital twin technologies.

The project aims to introduce a tool for managers of Italian cultural heritage, helping to identify priority interventions on historic buildings through the use of emerging technologies. EN-HERITAGE develops a decision support system capable of collecting, processing, and sharing architectural, energy, and environmental data to provide a comprehensive conservation status assessment and monitoring of critical parameters.
The deterioration of historic buildings is closely linked to the combined effects of natural atmospheric agents and anthropogenic pollutants, which damage surfaces and inner layers of the structures. Among these, Black Carbon plays a key role as the main contributor to surface blackening and material degradation.

PM_TEN will develop an innovative methodology for monitoring environmental variables that most affect the conservation of historic buildings, using two complementary approaches:
- In-situ measurement campaigns, conducted with the Giano BC1 sequential sampler, equipped with the optical module patented by PM_TEN and Dadolab.
- Experiments in the atmospheric chamber at ChAMBRe (infn.it).
The ultimate goal is to identify a set of environmental parameters that, when properly processed, allow the extraction of detailed information on the impact of air pollution, using general datasets that are easily accessible and interpretable by heritage managers.
