A diagnostic and energy efficiency management platform for the preservation and use of historical buildings through digital twin.
The project aims at introducing on the market a platform designed for those who manage the Italian cultural heritage useful to identify intervention priorities on historical buildings through the use of emerging technologies. EN-HERITAGE develops a decision support system that detects, processes and shares architectural, energy and environmental information for the diagnosis of the state of conservation and the monitoring of parameters with a significant impact on it.
The state of conservation of historic buildings is in fact strongly linked to the action of atmospheric agents of natural origin and pollutants of anthropic origin, which inexorably lead to the degradation of the surfaces and the innermost layers of the artefacts. Among these, black carbon certainly plays a leading role, being the main culprit in the phenomenon of blackening of surfaces.
Our role: PM_TEN will develop a new methodology for monitoring the environmental variables with the greatest impact on the state of conservation of historic buildings through two complementary approaches: in situ measurement campaigns (carried out using the Giano BC1 sequential sampler, equipped with the optical module patented by PM_TEN and Dadolab) and experiments carried out at the ChAMBRe atmospheric chamber (infn.it). The final objective will be to identify a set of parameters that, suitably processed, can enable the extraction of detailed information on the impacts of atmospheric pollution from more general and easily usable datasets.
